Our Statement on Cuts to Food Banks and the USDA

One Spirit relies on food banks that receive support from the USDA in order to maximize the amount of relief we can provide to hungry elders, children, and families on Pine Ridge Reservation. For weeks, we have seen the availability of food plummet and the price of it increase. We also lost a key source of funding for the Charging Buffalo Meat Processing Facility, when the Commodity Local Food Initiative was cut, jeopardizing its financial security. Without these programs, children and elders will go hungry. We implore the USDA to resume support for our nation's food banks.
